Goodby Venice...hello Greece!!

So tonight is our last night in Venice :(

It was a good three nights here. The food is expensive, the tourists plentiful but the views were amazing, every corner we turned down was picture perfect. The contrast of the weather and water torn buildings accented by beautiful flowers from the balconies was fantastic. We took many pictures and memories away from this place, but I think the key to Venice is just loosing yourself in the maze of the city. Forget San Marco's square and the tourist hell and head down the small streets, over bridges and you'll find yourself rounding a corner and looking down one on the most beatiful alley's you've ever seen. It's no wonder there are so many paintings of this place.

And speaking of San Marco's square...go see it then never go back. They corall you through the actual cathedral like cattle, you're not allowed to take pictures and once you're inside you have to pay for certain things that seem rediculous. It's some sort of tourist coralling machine, so go take a look and if you can somehow get in there on your own to take in the grungy uniqueness of its towering walls then I do it, but only get caught in the corall once, that's all you need, if that...

San Marco's

The second day here was a bit of bummer, Bonnie sprained her ankle (one minute she was laughing and talking the next minute she was falling down the steps) she's ok, she bandaged it up and is now almost fully walking on it again, but it was a little bit scary, then after getting her all fixed up after her tumble, we had our second storm of the trip yesterday, it was crazy, one minute we're outside about to adventure again and the next minute we're running for cover from the insane turrential downpouring! But after the sprained ankle and crazy rain and lightning we were off to wander again.

We did do one super duper touristy and expensive thing here, we took a gondola down the canals during sunset and it was so relaxing and peaceful it was worth every penny, we did a private tour, if you pay a little less you have to share the gondola with other people and who wants to do that on your honeymoon right?! It was fantastic.

I also go to snap a bunch of picture inside the place where they make many many of the famous masks of Venice! It was great, some of the detail on these things was crazy!!

So with many pizza's, lasanga's and a virety of wines, we say goodbye to Venice, but not before we go for one last gelato!!

Take care and you'll hear from us in Greece!!
