Days 2 - 3

Day 2:

Sorry we haven't posted anything in a few days but WOW! There is so much to see and do in Rome it's crazy. The first day we just puttered around and looked at stuff in the neighbourhood we are staying. The Coliseum is just down the road from the Milton Roma, which is a pretty good little hotel and right across from the Metro station which is handy for getting around quickly. A storm actually blew in just after we got back to our hotel room after that day and it hailed stones the size of jawbreakers and the roads flooded, people were running into the lobby from off the streets and cars were up to their doors in water, it was crazy.

Day 3:

We did quite a bit! We went to San Giovanni (cathedral) then we headed over to the Coliseum went inside and toured around, it's so awesome to stand inside to fully take in the size of it, you can never really realize what it's like to be in that place until you're standing there. We then went to Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II, apparently it’s got another name called "The Wedding Cake", it's all white and quite the spectacle, but what I didn't realize is that it was actually completed in the 30's which makes it pretty recent, I guess a lot people feel that it's an eyesore, but we took the elevator to the top of it and I'll tell ya, it's no eyesore from up there, the view was stunning.

After that we got lost in the city trying to find the Pantheon, which we did after some sore feet, and it was awesome. A touring choir group happened to be in there at the same time as us and sang a couple of songs, and if you know nothing about the Pantheon, it's pretty much acoustically perfect so they sounded amazing! It was one of those great random moments. After that we stumbled upon the Trevi Fountain which is incredible too, but by then our feet were sore and our minds were tired from all the stuff we saw so we sat for bit, snapped some pictures and went for dinner then headed home for the night.
