Aaaah Venezia!!

We took the train and made it into Venice and our first day here was amazing! It was sad to say goodbye to Rome though when we got settled in Venice and took the little ferry through the canal we got over it pretty quickly! This city is incredible, the only thing that I'm not too keen on is that it's so incredible everyone seems to want to come here so there's tourists everywhere!! You can watch the cruise ships get pulled in by tugs and once they land its like a swarm of locusts! We realized this pretty quickly so we got up at 6:00 this morning and decided to take in the city as the sun rose and no-one was out yet. The only glitch we had was that the clerk at the desk was apparently asleep and the front door was locked so we were stuck inside! We wandered around looking for an escape rout, yelling hello all the while until we rang the desk bell and a very sleepy looking clerk pushed the button that opened the door and we were free!!

It was nice to just walk around with the cameras out and soak in the sites without the hustle and bustle. We have a Grand Canal tour in a gondola today and we're taking it easy inside at the moment. It's been nonstop walking and our feet are sore so we're taking a bit of time to ourselves before heading out into the tourist extravaganza.

One other thing we noticed pretty quickly about Venice is that the food is rediculously expensive, it seems like the average cost of a meal here is about 150 canadian, of course that includes a drink each. Yikes! We cheaped out on our first night and bought what was about an 80 cdn dollar meal and it was HORRIBLE! I've had better italian food at a chinese restaurant, so we're going to try the place our friends Chris and Melissa recommended tonight.

Sorry if the pictures are either too dark or too light or look weird, this laptop is hard to get pictures balanced properly.

Take care!

Love Jason and Bonnie.
